Sunlight shimmers and sparkles off the water of numerous fountains. They will be highlighted during the opening ceremony of the Asian Games. The theme of the extravaganza is "setting off". In keeping with the theme, a large boat will sail into the ceremony venue. Water as a local element will play a key role throughout the presentation.

Two days ago, Guangzhou residents witnessed a spectacular fireworks display as a warm-up to the real ceremony.

The whole city is preparing for the event.

Volunteers are also prepared.

A volunteer said, "I really want to do something for the Asian Games. I'll serve Guangzhou citizens, tourists from home and abroad. And I'm happy to do so."

As you can see, Guangzhou is making sure they are ready for the upcoming Asian Games.
